I am not a Doctor so please be advised this in only from personal experiences of myself and others I have know and this does not replace a Doctors advice.

If your luck to have an honest ER Doctor they will tell you this but MOST will not!

You go into the ER with cramping and or bleeding and they tell you you are probably miscarrying or have an ectopic pregnancy. Yes both are very important to know but did you know that the test they perform can cause you to miscarry?

This is a scary moment for you but there is a good chance you are not. In most cases the placenta that is attaching to the wall of your uterus sometime partially comes away from the wall of the uterus causing you to bleed. As long as it does not come all of the way off your pregnancy should be fine. And if you go in only with cramping well pregnancy is painful at times and can just be as simple as trapped gas or that you are stressed out and may be nothing at all. A clinic Doctor should be your fist plan of action not the ER! Usually a clinic Doctor will inform you to go home and rest and only go in if your pain is so bad you cant walk to the bathroom (do to peoples perception of pain on a scale of 1 to 10 can be so different this is a better method). Even if you are bleeding the only way you should go is if you are filling more then one pad and hour.

Both the clinic and ER Doctor may perform a blood test and yes you should ask for this do be done if they don’t offer it first! The blood test measures the levels of HCg Hormones in your blood stream. They should also tell you that you need to come in 24 hours later to do it again. If the second test the levels are higher odds are you are not miscarrying. If they are dropping slowly you should go back in in another 24 hours (and if they don’t tell you you need to ask! This is the time you have to tell them what you want or you could end up aborting a healthy pregnancy just cause a Doctor is following a standard procedure). They can drop if you are possibly going to but the body will do what it can to save your baby and may go back up. If the levels continue to drop then you are indeed miscarrying.
