A new study has discovered that more than two out of five people get out of breath running for a bus and even walking up the stairs, and urged for workers to engage in more physical activities.

A poll of 2,000 adults has shown that women are more likely than men to admit to the fact of simple everyday activities can leave them out of breath, said the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

Workout at Work Day, as it has been dubbed, will see workplaces across the country being visited by more than 150 physiotherapists with the aim of getting people to get encouraged to adopt a more healthier lifestyle.

“Consequences of inactivity are seen everyday by physiotherapists, and has become a real concern with so many people performing relatively simple tasks and being left out of breath.” said CSP Chairman Ann Green.

With people obviously confined by financial as well as time pressures, the goal of Workout at Work Day is to show people how to build a daily routine as easy and as cheap as possible.

As Obesity is a crisis facing the UK today, we need to help tackle this by adopting some of these healthy habits.

Exercise classes, table tennis, cycling challenges and also lunchtime walking clubs are among the activities being led by the physios.

Employers are being urged to make exercise a regular feature in the workplace by the CSP.
