Yoga Techniques: Pranayama Breathing for Extreme Concentration and Stress Relief

Yoga is one of the simplest and easiest ways to ensure a healthy living.

It does not necessarily have to be body contortions, which are hard for beginners. Accurate and regular practice of the breathing techniques has many benefits. The breathing technique, described below, is extremely essential.

Benefits

  1. The technique is extremely simple and does not need someone to be in great physical condition to start. It is however recommended for all.
  2. It is extremely natural and relieves stress and tension (almost immediate results could be seen if done properly)
  3. One direct benefit, when done regularly is it reduces the building up of toxins in the mucous linings in the alveoli of lungs.
  4. It causes increased oxygen flow to the brain and body.
  5. Regular practice, cleanses the blood.
  6. It clears up the mind and increases concentration

These are just a few benefits.

The Breathing Technique

  1. Sit wherever you want, in the most comfortable position, which suits you. Try relaxing your shoulders, chest and loosen up the body.
  2. Inhale deeply and slowly (relaxing the abdomen), pushing the belly forward and expanding it. You should actually consciously try to swell up the belly.
  3. Then exhale, this time shrinking the abdomen. Consciously try to tighten the muscles of the belly and push all the air out.
  4. Try not to strain yourself and open up. Breathe easy now.
  5. This process should be repeated trying to make the breathing in and out time equal.
  6. The maximum focus should be in the breathing out. Properly pumping out the stale air will make it work best.

When You Should Do This:

  1. Before studying, exams or making some big decision. It clears up the mind from distractions and aids in taking correct decisions by providing focus in one direction.
  2. Before a meeting, presentation or interview. Stress relief is what makes one perform best in these situations, and this breathing technique will certainly help.
  3. Before going to bed. It will calm the mind and help you in getting a deep sleep.
  4. Whenever you find time. At work, in the car or even while waiting in a line.
  5. Try not to ignore this. Believe me it works. It has been termed as ” Kapalbhati Pranayama ” in India as it awakens your inner powers .
