What is skin and what is it’s function?

Your skin is a bunch of cells.

Your skin is more than just to keep your insides from spilling out.  It also keeps out germs and protects the water in your body.  Your body would dry up without your skin.

What are wrinkles and why do we get them?

Fold’s in a your skin are known as wrinkles.  As you grow older you may observe wrinkles on your face.  Your skin on your face is attached to over 25 muscles.  These muscles become week as you age and they don’t get the exercise to stay strong.  Because of this, the muscles cannot hold the skin tight.  As your skin sags down, wrinkles will show.  Sun can dry your skin oils out and cause wrinkling as well.

Why do people have different colored skin?

Skin has 2 pigments in it.  The color of your skin is determined by the amount of pigments your skin has.  Their are brown pigments and their are yellow pigments.  Everybody’s is different.  This is genetic, and you normally have a mix from both your parents.

What are freckles?

Freckles are grouped up brown pigments called melanin.  Sun can cause your skin to produce even more melanin.  You may notice you have freckles in the summer but not in the winter because of this.

What is an Albino?

An albino has no pigment in their hair or eyes.  They normally have very pale skin too because the lack of color matter.  They have pink eyes because their is no pigment to cover the blood vessels from showing.  The parents do not need to be albinos or of any color to produce an Albino offspring.
