A Patient’s Ideal Dentist
A patient’s idea of an ideal dentist.
Have you ever gone to the dentist with a chilled feeling down your spine? Not knowing what your dentist is about to do? Despite your feel have they ever given you an unexpected shock? An ideal dentist would not have any of those negative factors. As a matter of fact, they would have the exact opposite characteristics. In my opinion, an ideal dentist needs to have a good attitude towards their patient. They must also be aware of their cleanliness and atmosphere at their office. To me it is also important to have professional skill and do the right things.
An ideal dentist should have an open and good attitude. It is important for your patient to feel comfortable and eliminate or foster fears; especially for young children. A professional dentist should be calming and explaining every step they’re about to make thoroughly. An example of this is telling you your mouth is about to feel numb or what the equipment they’re using on you is for. A consistent attitude towards your patient is also important, despite how tired you are, or how much of a headache you have.
Another example of something a dentist would do is attempt to draw your attention away from the throbbing. Some of these ideas include, allowing you to listen to music, ask you questions about your personal/school life, or turn on the television. After the treatment, they often give children “freezes” or “popsicles” to them. For older patients, they may give dental floss or tooth brushes. Finally, the dentist gives you a summery of your oral health, as well as what you should do to maintain your good oral hygiene.
Dentists are after all, the professionals. They have much knowledge and should be trusted, despite their attitude or the atmosphere of their office. They know your teeth are irreplaceable and try hard to keep them in good health. In conclusion my ideal dentist is one who “knows what they’re doing”, has an ongoing attitude and is trust worthy.
