Health Care: Curing The Symptom Not The Cause
Something needs to be done about our health care system. The approach our government is taking will only fix the symptom and not the cause.
The United States government is now in the positions to take on health-care reform. The far left democrats have control of both the House and the Senate and we have a President that is a far left democrat as well. Our health-care problems will not be solved by the approach the far left is proposing, if the far left wanted to solve our health-care problems they would be looking to fix the corporate crimes committed by the corporate medical care companies, insurance companies, and drug companies. Striker regulations need to be put on these corporations so Doctors go back to providing medical services for their patients.
Corporate Medical Care
When was the last time you tried to see your primary care doctor for a minor illness or injury. Trying to see a specific doctor can take weeks, the patient/doctor relationship no longer exists in today medical profession. We have moved away from the personal doctor office visits to the elaborate and modern medical clinics. The bottom line for these clinics is money. Quality and personal medical care is second. The high cost of these elaborately designed and decorated medical centers are driving the cost of medical care up and the quality down.
Insurance Companies
Insurance companies and medical clinics are taking advantage of those in this country who are insured. Once the medical profession discovers you are in fact an insured patient you will find yourself the victim of countless test. You will find yourself moving through the elaborate clinics seeing specialist and other physicians within the clinics systems. Your insurance will be billed for the lab work and tests done. The clinic will be paid, your insurance rates will be increased and the result of the test will be either inconclusive or negative. The cause of your symptoms being either unknown or minor and the test proving to have little to do with you illness and more about the clinics collecting money from the insurance companies.
Drug Companies
Our medical system has a drug problem. You can be sure you will be prescribed a drug when you walk into a medical clinic and you can be certain your insurance company will be billed for it. You can take comfort in knowing there are many drugs out there that do the same thing. If your doctor prescribes a drug that does not work you can be sure there is one out there that will. The pharmaceutical companies are big business and need you to be sick or injured. If you are willing to drug shop they are happy to accommodate you. Visiting your doctor and or health clinic is equal to visiting a drug dealer the only difference being the doctors and clinics keep their hands clean by sending you to a pharmacist.
Our current administration has decided it will be the Administration that takes on the corruption and misuse inside medical system. The far left is correct in saying there is corruption and misuse, they are correct in arguing medical and insurance companies are damaging our health-care system. However, instead of addressing the corruption that exists between the medical, insurance and pharmaceutical companies our government is deciding to become one of the problems. The medical clinics, insurance companies and drug companies take our money. Our government believes it can fix the corruption by throwing trillions of tax dollars at this broken system, our tax dollars.
Nothing will be fixed, nothing will change we will continue down the same dysfunctional path that our medical system has been on for a very long time. Our medical option will be limited to a non-personal system that is controlled by drug and insurance companies. We will continue to pay high insurance premiums, co-payments and monthly medical bills. The one change we will see is higher taxes. Our administration is approaching health-care reform the same way our medical system approaches medicine, cure the symptom ignore the cause and make as much money as possible.

You forgot to mention the greedy lawyers who are making big bucks on law suits where people are getting serious diseases from taking certain medications, or even dying. Where is the FDA???
Good article. Many people feel exactly as you do. So WHY is it so hard to stop the corruptions? Those in power are too busy getting rich from the corruptions, they won’t put a stop to it. Besides they all have the best medical care in the world, why would they care about the people they are paid to oversee? Talking about it helps.

I know that this may sound simplistic, but the root problem comes back to supply and demand. No one mentions the AMA and US based medical schools. Over time, by limiting the number of graduates entering the medical profession the supply is suppressed. This has caused the upward pressure on doctors bank accounts. It also back fires when the work load of the average Doctor heads well above 70 hours per week, and there is no time in the schedule to spend with any one patent. If you are over 50 you may remember Doctors making house calls. They used to enjoy their profession and may have had one or at most two secretaries or nurses to help them. Today, go in the average Doctors office and you will see a support staff of six or seven. If the patent ahead of you kept the good Doctor three minutes over that has to be deducted from your ten minutes. Better have your written list ready of your health issues because you are probably not sharp enough to convince the Doctor that you even has a problem, or at least one serious enough to warrent more than his normal response > everythings O.K.. If everything was O.K. do you think I would have taken off work and waited in your (the Doctors) office for 55 minutes. Yes the system is definantly broke, your minor medical problems have to become so serious, don’t try a “preventative maintanence” approach anymore. So go back to the supply and demand situation. If the government would step in and return the country Doctor in mass so that the proper patent-doctor ratio is restored then two things would change – the Doctors just might start to enjoy their profession again and take the time with individual patents to take care of their needs instead of the malpractise carrier and those unnecessary and costly tests. They (Doctors) might even make fewer mistakes as their work load becomes reasonable and enjoy a less stressful lifestyle.
