Training for a Career in Medical Transcription

The medical transcription field is growing faster by the day. With more people going to the doctor, doctors are in more need of Medical Transcriptionists, putting them in high demand.

If you are considering a job in medical transcription, here are the first steps you need to take.

First,  you need to get the training that is required.  You can do this by training at home in your spare time.  I highly recommend   At-Home Professions  in Fort Collins, Colorado, a state licensed school for more than 25 years.  They offer  a full medical transcription course, jam-packed with everything you need to know to get started on your career as a medical transcriptionist.

You can easily complete this course in as little as 6 months, studying only one hour per day.

At the beginning of the course, you will study grammar, proper punctuation, root words, and how to combine them with medical terms.  You will learn how to use the ADI {American Drug Index.}  You will study medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, drugs and their usages. You will also transcribe medical reports from all major medical specialties. You will also be trained on how to listen and distinguish different accents.

If anytime during your course, you get stumped, no worries, they have academic advisors available whenever you need them.  You can work one-on-one with an instructor anytime during your course.

They even offer assistance after you graduate. Graduate Counselors are there to help you land your first job as a Medical Transcriptionist.
