Hangover Home Remedies

Have a wild night and now you have a throbbing head? Here are some great home remedies to help you feel better.

  1. Grab a slice of bread, or a few crackers and spread some honey over them. Honey is a good source of fructose (sugar), as well as apples, cherries and grapes.
  2. Stay away from coffee and other drinks that contain caffeine. Caffeine does not help a hangover, it can however dehydrate you even more.
  3. Don’t take aspirin before you drink, it will only make it worse. Do however take it about four hours after you are done drinking. Aspirin probably is the best, but only if you wait a white before taking it.
  4. If you are a smoker, or in a smoke filled room while you are drinking, it is likely you will get twice the hangover. Both alcohol and tobacco contain acetaldehyde, which is a hangover substance that stresses the liver.
  5. Taking vitamin C before drinking has been shown to counteract some of the effects of alcohol. It helps by speeding up the process of getting rid of alcohol in the body.
  6. Go for fresh juice. Drink a big glass of fresh squeezed orange juice, or grapefruit juice.
  7. Potassium is guaranteed to revitalize the body after a heavy drinking session, so you better grab a banana.
  8. Drink some pedialite, or try pedialite popsicle. They help to rehydrate, and the coldness is great for a pounding head.
  9. Take vitamin B before you start drinking beer, it will make all the difference in the morning. Vitamin B2 is good, but the best choice is B1.
  10. Do not mix your drinks. Stick to one drink, mixing them will only make it worse the next day.
  11. Drink a V8, it is said to be one of the best solutions to a hangover. All that tomato and them vegetables mixed together, if only it tasted better.
  12. Drink lots and lots of water. Drink water before you drink alcohol and then drink a glass of water for every drink you have. Then drink some more water, as soon as you wake up.
  13. Grab a sports drink, like Powerade or Gatorade. The sports drink will help to replace lost electrolytes, and water.
  14. Go to bed, you need it. This one works really well when you can find someone to wait on your every need.
  15. When all else fails, keep drinking. Alcohol contains methanol and ethanol. Methanol is what makes you head hurt, while the ethanol stops it. So another drink means more ethanol, meaning delayed head pain.
