Seven Solutions to Cure Hangover That Really Work
Hurting? These list can help you feel better with the following morning-after routine.

Eat a Restorative Breakfast
Drag your butt out of bed and make or order this menu:
scrambled eggs with whole-wheat toast slathered with honey.
Eggs are rich in an amino acid called cyteine, which helps your liver break down the alcohol in your system.
The toast will absorb some of the booze still in your stomach and calm queasiness. Plus, whole grains are high in B vitamins, which are depleted by alcohol. Replenishing the B’s supplies you with the energy necessary to break down the liquor. The fructose in the honey also helps your body metabolize the alcohol, which means you’ll get rid of it faster.
Don’t like toast and honey? Eat a bowl of high-fiber bran cereal with some grapes or an apple instead. It’ll have the same effect.

Skip the Hot Shower
Heat is the enemy when you’re hangover. Though it may sound soothing, steeping into a hot shower or bath or taking a sauna will only cause your blood vessels to swell even more, making you already painful headache absolutely excruciating.

Pop a Pill
Take a 400 mg of ibuprofen or 650 mg of aspirin to help calm inflamed tissues surroundings the blood vessels in your brain and block your body’s production of prostaglandins, hormone-like substances that can cause pain. But don’t overdo it–mixing pain-relievers with alcohol more than twice a week may up your risk of gastric problems and damage your liver.
Then chill out for half an hour. Apply a moist, cool washcloth, an ice pack, or a bag of frozen veggies to your forehead–this will bolster the pain relievers by helping shrink the swollen blood vessels in your brain.

Load of Liquids
When you’re hurtin’, it’s crucial that you hydrate your body. Water is your best et, but if you want something with flavor, try a sports drink, which also helps replace lost minerals, or juice, which can give you a fructose injection. When your body lacks fluids, it has two work twice as hard to carry out its normal functions, so everything slows down, including the elimination of alcohol from your system.

Have a Cup of Caffeine
As long as you’re getting plenty of water, having a mug of coffee or tea can help by shrinking those swollen blood vessels behind your heinous headache. Plus, a java jolt will keep you alert, lessening the morning-after brain drain.

Sweat it Out
Although heading to the gym may sound like pure torture, working up a light sweat could make you feel better. Really. Exercise increases your body’s metabolic rate, helping you get rid of the alcohol faster. Keep downing the water, and don’t do more than a 30-minute workout.

Take an Afternoon Nap
Draw the shades (bright light can exacerbate your headache) and hunker down for a 30-minute snooze. When you sleep, your body goes into repair mode. A short nap will give you that extra push to clear the remaining poisons from your system without making you overly groggy. Plus, it will help you catch up the shut-eye you lost last night–all that sugar in alcohol acts as a stimulant, stirring you to rise way before your body’s ready.
