Anti-Aging: Resveratrol

Drug companies are working on an anti-aging-drug called Resveratrol.

How many of you have heard about the new anti aging drug Resveratrol? It is said to suppress blood clots and boost the efficiency of the immune system. The substance is being touted by the drug companies as the anti aging miracle drug of the century. The drug companies are spending millions on testing and research which is in it’s infancy at present. To date it has mostly been studied in a petri dish, on such thing as worms and mice, but understanding the public as drug companies do, they expect to make billions on this up coming product.

Glaxo-SmithKline paid $720 million for the commercial rights to some of the earliest research on Resveratrol. It can be five to ten years before the Food and Drug Administration allows it to go on the market and you can bet your boots it will cost a pretty penny when it does. As for companies who sell vitamins and supplements, they will have the same five to ten years to make a killing on Resveratrol as a vitamin supplement. Resveratrol supplements sells in stores and on the Internet for anything from $15 to $150. Rafael de Cabo, a National Institute on Aging investigator says he wouldn’t consider taking the substance and would not recommend it until knowing more about how it works, and the future side effects. He adds, ” Unless you have scientific evidence, you are a snake oil salesman.”

What I consider completely hilarious is that you can get all you want of Resveratrol from red wine or red grape juice. The strength drug companies are testing for the drug in pill form, is about what you will get naturely from two glasses of red wine a day. I drink about two glasses of red wine most days so I do believe I will leave their expensive pills alone and continue to drink my lovely red wine. I’m happy to hear it is anti-aging. It seems I am killing two birds with one stone.

  1. Anti-aging is always taken a place in everyone’s heart, as people like to be seen as YOUNG. Resveratrol has long been proven as a great source to delay the aging process, and it’s found abundant in red grapes and red wine. So, I encourage you to take appropriate amount of red grapes to delay aging, if you can’t really make it, at least have appropriate amount of red wine daily. Thanks and have my liked it.

  2. Oh yes, you have killed several birds with one stone. You have protected yourself against obesity as well!.

  3. My doctor informs me that two alcoholic beverages a day (no more) are heart healthy, as well. Good article. I expect many of the over the counter pills could be found out in the woods.

  4. Mona Vie is a great choice too. It’s made up of 19 fruits. The Acie is the crown jewel.

  5. Red wine is the best. Great post, Ruby :)

  6. Hi Ruby,

When I do drink wine, I only drink the red. However, I take the Resveratrol in capsule daily. This is one product that I really do support it’s claims. Great article, thanks for sharing.

  7. Red wine is ok. I’ll cancel my loads of beer. Thanks for the tip Ruby.

  8. informative. thank u

  9. Nice article Ruby and great info! By the way I will have to take you up on your offer of stopping by your mini vacation spot its sounds divine!

  10. Tell Glaxo, Smith, Kline to hurry up with this, Ruby. In the meantime I’ll have a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape!

  11. Fantastic article ruby! Many people would actually race out to buy this and not even look into the facts.I’ll take the red wine any day!

  12. That was a fun read.

    Thanks.

    Inna

  13. I\’m with you, Ruby. Let us have another glass of red wine and live a long and healthy life. Good article. Well presented.

  14. Thank you my dear friends, I appreciate all your comments. I just thought it was a little silly for drug companies to put out an expensive pill to take in the place of red wine. Who wouldn’t rather have a glass of red wine rather than a pill, not speaking of the money saved.

  15. Thanks for your suggestions, I love red wine!

  16. think i’ll stick to grape juice. wine gives me the nastiest hang-over ever–even in minute portions.

  17. Yes you are absolutely correct about the Red Wine, and I love the part where you stated “kill two birds with one stone”
These companies are looking for a profit, I am looking for the most heathiest, cost effective way to accomplishing “not aging”
OF course we must all go that eay eventually, but for now
    “Cheers to your article”

  18. i would still continue searching for the “fountain of youth”…lol
    nice one Ruby

  19. This is a great article, ruby. I can see people rushing to get this drug without checking it out first.

  20. Good one.

  21. I am very much into skin care since I was in my teenager. From Shiseido, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Dior, Lancome, La Mer, Prevage, Trish McCoy, Guerlain to Aveeno……….. almost every name brand you can find on the counter or department store – I try them all. I wasn’t very keen on Olay when I tried it in my early 20’s – I just do not like its texture and smell – it also irritates my skin. I didn’t touch this brand – OLAY for over 20 years.

When I saw their break through product Pro-X line – I put a big question mark on its quality and price. In November ‘08, I saw they were promoting its starter kit at Amazon and I thought I would give it a try – a very last try……………..at least.

Surprisingly, it works! I look at all the ingredients written on it, went to their site and learn more about this product. Also study hard enough to ensure those anti-wrinke ingredients are the ones that I am looking for, eg: peptide. is in that jar.

I put on their SPF 20 lotion in the morning and this cream in the evening. I could tell the difference after a few days. The face is some what tighten up a bit and the texture is a bit smoother. However, it does not contain any ingredients that can brighten up my skin color. Some of my chickie friends use this as welll and we compare our end result after one month. They all claimed that it improves and tighten their skin!

    What I like best:
+ The price compare with other Brand name products – it is a steal!
+ It does not carry too much fragrance.
+ There is a flip on the jar to protect the content inside – if you travel and carry all your jars of cream in your suitcase – you’ll understand how neat it is to have flip for extra protection.
+ There is a rebate that one can dowload at their site – $25! Yeah!
+ Easy accessibility – at drugstore or grocery stores.
+ A little dot can spread all over on my face…..
+ I have super sensitive skin and it doesn’t irritate my face.
+ My man likes it too – he thinks it is okay becuz tehre is not much fragrance.

I am going to try their hydration lotion and see if it can retain the mositure in my skin.

  22. I purchased a bottle, the pill gives you alot of energy but I broke out in a very itchy rash all over my face. I tried to call the company at Powerbrycs.com but they claim they don’t know anything about my order yet they just took another 80 dollars from my account! This company is dishonest.
