Green Tea Vs Green Tea Powder (Matcha)

We’ve reviewed the awesome benefits of green tea. So, what are the benefits of, shall we say, regular green tea verses green tea powder (matcha)? Powdered green tea comes from the same plant as regular tea, the Camellia Sinensis. The benefits of green tea powder, matcha has the health benefits of regular green tea but multiplied 10 times over! The nutritional value is 10 times as much as regular green tea.

When you drink matcha or powdered green tea, you’re consuming the entire tea plant. Drinking regular green tea involves steeping the leaves in hot water which releases the healthy, healing compounds into the water. Then you drink the water. The green tea leaves can be steeped several times to get more out of them, but after that the leaves are thrown out. Evidently much of the nutrients left in the leaves are being tossed out too.

And The Winner Is… Green Tea Powder (Matcha)

Green tea powder, matcha is made by pounding dried, young green tea leaves into a very fine powder. To prepare the tea, lightly boiled water is added to about a teaspoon of powdered tea and whisked together. Because the entire leaves are consumed, no nutrients are lost. You’re getting all of the fiber and the chlorophyll from the green tea leaves. The tea drinker receives all the benefits of green tea concentrated. You get 10 times the benefits of regular green tea! Head to head, matcha, powdered green tea wins vs. regular green tea.
