Anxiety is some thing that we need to survive, a sense to tell us to get out of the way of a speeding car or to run from danger, but anxiety can out do its welcome. The amygdala is a small organ in the brain that generates anxiety and can over due its job, it can give the brain false readings and generate unwanted thoughts and all due to what most people believe to be a chemical imbalance.
Anxiety can affect people differently and there are many different symptoms associated with anxiety disorders. Here is a list of a few symptoms of an anxiety disorder,
- Speeding heart rate
- Sweaty palms
- Uncontrollable shaking
- Chest pains
- Heart palpitations
- Constant fear of death
- Butter flies in the stomach
- Even in some cases dizziness
But none of these are life threathining. If any one experiences any of these symptoms they should seek metical help so that a doctor can rule out any other illness and only a doctor can properly diagnose an anxiety disorder. But the best way to get help is to see a mental health professional, they are the ones who are more knowledgeable about this sort of thing and can better treat an anxiety disorder.
There are many ways to treat anxiety, from medication like Paxil, clonipin, and many more, but you need to find which one is best for you. Some people are given Ativan, but this is only a short term medication until you find the right one that suits your needs. Therapy is another treatment that helps and is a nessacery one at that, because whether you like to believe it or not anxiety is in your head even though you might not be able to control it. It’s a long drawn out process to recovery but is well worth it in the end to find the end of that bumpy road. There are a lot of different ways to deal with anxiety, such as breathing exercises where you take a deep breath in through your nose and let it out slowly through your mouth, this will slow down your breathing, but doesn’t always work for everyone. Lying down and closing your eyes and taking a deep breath then trying to clear your mind is another way to calm down.
