Confidence

Article of encouragement.

Many people live in a constant state of apprehension. Apprehension about their finances, health, family, job, environment, world conflict etc. Sometimes we are conscious of the worry that we are carrying at other times it is subliminal. Many of us have actually developed a belief system that it is healthy to worry. We believe that this is the definition of maturity. Actually, constant worry creates much stress that effects our emotional and physical health. I would like to suggest a few simple steps to help you become free of the disempowering effects of worry.

First, it is important to make a life decision to become aware of when we are in a state of worry while acknowledging it’s corrosive and debilitating side effects. This self-awareness is a key in moving towards mental and emotional health.

Second, practice detachment…take a deep breath and say, “I surrender this thing that I am worrying about. I relinquish my anxiety knowing that it will not help me to resolve this conflict.”

Third, make a positive declaration while reminding yourself of three things that are going well or that you have to be thankful for.

Fourth, make sure that your expectations are reasonable…talk to someone with experience in the area where you have questions or are struggling to get an objective opinion.

Fifth, identify the soul-restoring things in your life…taking walks, hot baths, reading,  attending movies, talking with friends etc. and make sure that you are doing these things on a regular basis especially in stressful times.

These are just a few suggestions…hope they help!
