Depression
When people are depressed.
Is a chemical imbalance in the brain? A supply of neurotransmitters may be in inadequate sending out signals, such as pain, and extreme sadness. Is often associated with feelings of invalidation and worthlessness. It is more than just feeling sad for a day or two. Some withdraw and become introverts. It is a serious condition and each individual has different experiences and symptoms. Depression takes place after traumatic incident or experiences in one’s life. A number of events could trigger depression and sometimes not detectable by others or even oneself. It could be various reasons that the individual goes into depression. Depression is not necessarily something obvious. Some people suffer from this disease for many years and some under doctor’s care. Depression is when one consistently expresses negative behavior, physical pain, has mood swings, eating disorders, weight loss or gaining in weight. Often thinks, and explores death. In the depths of despair thoughts of suicide or behavior thereof. The feeling of insignificance and dissolution is intense in some cases, which makes them self destructive at times as well as physically ill. Insomnia or fatigue is also a common factor, which leads to erratic emotional out bursts and crying.
Looses interest in daily activities, lack concentration, or interest.
There are alternative or complimentary medicines. Varieties of treatments are available on the market, including, electroconvulsive treatment, and psychotherapy. Change of diet and lifestyle. A doctor should determine the severity of the depression and the most appropriate way forward should be taken. All other possibilities should be ruled out which can be done through simple blood tests and the help of a psychotherapist. With so many anti depressants out there, it is difficult to determine which will be the best for that individual, with the least side affects. It is trial and error, unfortunately. It should also be encouraged for the person to take up a sport or a hobby. Family and friends should be involved. A healthy support system to help, monitor and or observe any changes and behavior.
