Depression is a serious mental condition with strong feelings of sadness, worthlessness, fatigue, insomnia or too much sleep. It can have both physical and mental causes, It may need a long term treatment. Medication may be needed as well as therapy . Depression is a life changing battle and causes the world harder to handle.

Depression is huge health problem. Even though everyone experience

Sadness once in a while, depression can not be diagnosed until that person has a non-stop symptoms for a continues two weeks. Some symptoms of depression are, a lot of crying, interests in normal daily activities lost, fatigue, things are harder to concentrate on, sleeping problems, eating habits have change( loss or gain of ) hopelessness and thoughts of suicide.

A lot of the depression is caused by inequality and disrespect from society and the family(Sexism, Racism, Homophobia, Etc.). Many women and men tend to blame themselves for things they have no control over. Many reasons also come from past tragedies, that hit back once older. Loss of a loved one, or maybe a physical harm are only two examples of what might have happened, and may have traumatized the person now , caused them into depression and a hard time dealing with it.

For teenagers there is a 10%-15% in the United States that have been diagnosed with clinical depression. Teen have the highest rate in suicide attempts. Many teens have suicide thoughts or even go into suicide, thinking it is the only way out. Not just teenager s, adults also go into the conclusion of suicide , but many that are parents do not for reasons of example, and knowing that their family would be extremely sad. Although suicide is mainly done by teens, their results of death are low to those of an older age suicide is simple. Their bodies cannot take a suicide attempt so easily. Depression on elders covers 25% of the US suicide deaths . Although teens have the highest suicide rate, their attempts are not successful. Teenager reason’s are a lot different . Physiologists say that teenagers have a fragile minds at their age and they are very sensitive. With that said, teens tend to make everything harder, then it really is. School is a lot of pressure, then comes the duties of home, and after school things. That and the pressure put during school to do bad things, can cause someone straight to suicide. Adults have to deal with work, home, and bills. They also have an extremely busy life. Adults also may go into depression by watching there own children. They may ask “why is he/she like this? What have I done wrong?”. That question, or any question can cause them to feel guilt for something they have no control over. That’s why they look for help elsewhere.

The truth is… suicide is NEVER the answer. There are many ways to help with depression. Depending on the person and their severity , treatment can go on for a short six months to some long years. It does not matter; it helps life better. If therapy alone does not help with depression, there are many different types of medication people can take. For teens there is 10% chance of more suicide thought, with the medication, but there minds will be elsewhere.

So why don’t people look for help? Well, ther are many reasons why, it all depends on the person, but the main reason are time , side effects, and money, nowadays many people can not afford the sessions and medication required for treatment. Also they do not have the time, they are trying to gain the money used. But, for those who have been taking the medication, and later can not afford it, simply stop taking it. That is a HUGE problem! If one stops taking prescribed medication the brain will crash and it will be in an even worse state than it began with. Many people stop taking medication or don’t even start at all because they know or have experienced the side effects of the medication.Worriers are common, but there are always different choices. That’s why it is so important to know if you can afford and keep the therapy going before you begin treatments. Do not lose hope, there are other ways to treat it. Exersise is a great way to realease stress, and physical pain. There are many suicide hotlines for those who need quick help.

Depression not only effects the person but everyone it is aroung daily, their change of mood can cause everyone else to change in a small way. Depression is a hard thing but is not impossible to fix. Depression changes everything in that person’s life and everyithin is harder; just try to help and they will thank you.
