Having the Blues

When can “having the blues” be good for you? When can it be toxic?

When can “having the blues” be helpful? When can it be toxic? We all get in those “don’t know what to do” moods and begin whining about the things that aren’t right in our lives or at least not the way we particularly want them to be. This usually has a habit of spiraling into a domino effect of negative thoughts, picking your life apart, self-defeating talk,
and just throwing yourself a perfect little pity party.

Not to discredit these whining parties for their know remnents of feeling terrible, but I have found that these little parties also have their advantages. Even though we are misted with the clouds of doubt and in those moments you feel as if the world will coming crumbling down around you, they may shed a glimpse of light in your life. When your party is over and you are left dismayed, you will find that your mind enters a different realm of thinking….problem solving.

Your analytical sense takes over and begins to search for answers. This process of answer-seeking may shed new ideas and hope for your situation. This is where change and new journeys begin. These moments can force you to look deep within yourself for the true answers to your happiness. It can also spark a fire in yourself that could help you get
the motivation you’ve needed for getting out of “the box”. This positive anger might be necessary for your well-being and journey to happiness.

So, the next time you find yourself in the middle of a pity party, whining and searching for answers, just remember that this is a normal process for personal growth in learning more about yourself. It is evidence that you are getting to know yourself a little more.

Whining is not always bad. However, if you find yourself throwing these pity parties often, my advise to you is to find someone to talk with these things about such as seeking professional advice or help.
