How to Take Care of The Brain

Our brain covers every faculties of our body. With out the brain, we will not be able to function effectively. This said, how can we take care of our brain?

Can you imagine a human body without the brain? If compared to a computer, it is like removing the motherboard to the central processing unit (CPU). Without the mother board, your computer will just be another blank screen. No data. No input. No output. There will be nothing.

A human brain is responsible for our reasoning faculties, speech capabilities, body movement, analytical planning, problem solving, visual efficacy, auditory senses and memory retentiveness. Our brain is also responsible on our capacity to recognize objects and people. Further, it also covers our subconscious and conscious sensation and feelings like happiness, hate, sadness and fright. A human brain that weighs 1.5 kg and about 140mm in size covers all of the functionalities mentioned. A human brain covers every faculties of our body. This said; I believe we have all the reasons in the world to take care of our brain.

So, how do we take care of our brain?

Go for nutritious foods. It is preferred to go for whole foods. These are foods that are least contaminated by chemicals or human made preservatives. And they are packed with the nutrients needed to sustain our body. We know that almost half of the nutrients of our body go to our brain. This obviously means that if our intake is packed with chemicals and preservatives, there is a higher chance of upsetting our organs. And there is a lesser nutrient we give to our body. With fewer nutrients for our body, what nutrients are we going to sustain to our brain?

Manage stress. Stress is not always negative. In fact, a healthy stress can boost a person and push him/her to his/her optimum performance. However, if stress over shadowed our life, then it becomes harmful. And this is the part where we have to address stress. Too much stress decreases the size of some parts of our brain cells. The affected cells include hippocampus. Hippocampus is the key element of a human brain responsible for memory retention. Therefore, we should manage stress to protect and further enhance our memory retentivity.  

Have a regular exercise. Exercise is a ticket to have great abs. People exercise because of self-esteem and the pride of having a great body. People had less considered the health benefits of exercise. Exercise is good for the human brain. It regulates the blood flow in the brain. Thus, it gives us a healthier brain on the process. Therefore, exercise has numerous benefits. It is good for our health, it helps us have a great body and a healthier brain as well.  

Use your mental ability. We need to exercise our body. But we also must exercise our capability to think. Do activities that will challenge you to create. Explore your analytical thinking and problem solving capabilities. Read books packed with value and information. Play crossword puzzle. Stay as sharp as possible. Challenge your mental capabilities.

These and more are the ways to protect human brain. In protecting our brain,  we also give ourselves the chance to live life to the fullest.
