Low Blow

Depression.

Many of us get depressed at some point of our lives. There are many reasons for this.

  • Genetic predisposition towards anger.
  • An accident or diagnosis of life threatening disorder.

Ayurveda and depression

·        Vata onset depression:  caused by too much anxiety or restlessness. Frequent travels, irregular working hours, high pressure jobs, erratic sleeping hours, inadequate sleep are contributory factors.

·        Pitta onset depression: caused by unachieved goals, failure at work. It laeds to anger and depression and is followed by neglect of meals and rest. Ultimately you become victim of your own mind.

·        Kapha onset depression: it begins slowly and affects after several years. Overeating, living a sedentary life  and lifestyle disorders like diabetes or hypertension may be the results.

Solutions

·        Set a routine for eating, sleeping. Etc.

·        Clean your room daily.

·        Listen to appropriate music and mantras.

·        Take care of your personal hygiene.

·        Go on strictly vegetarian diet of fresh fruits, vegetables and salads……

·        Avoid tobacco, alcohol.
