The most common obsessive thoughts:

Common types of compulsive behaviour include:
- Checking that doors are locked, and that the gas and light switches are turned off
- Cleaning or washing
- Repeating certain acts
- Repeating words or phrases in their head
- Collecting objects that have no value, such as carrier bags or junk mail.
