Other Causes for Suicide

Some additional causes for suicide.

A lot of what happens in the brain has to do with depression and eventual suicidal tendencies

The formation of neurotransmitters like serotonin tends to reduce depression and therefore those tendencies.

Another chemical is called endorphins that are produced naturally in the brain, can if not in a substantial amount

lead to a depressive state. There are other chemical substances, like substance P, which occur naturally and linked to a

state of well-being.

When a high school student cannot face the fact that he failed because that means so much for his parents that

may trigger a suicide attempt or an attempt at suicide mixed with some of violence we witness at some campus

with students who have threatened to harm professors that do not give them passing grades.

This city has an unknown amount of suicides annually taking place in front of the metro. Some subjects

may be new immigrants unable to adjust to the pressures of the new society that surrounds them or people caught

in day-to-day struggles and unable to deal with the pressure constructively. The suicidal rates for immigrants in Canada mostly

reflect the rate from their native countries though.

Children are more likely to consider suicide as an outlet in a single parent home because of the pressure in living with that parent.

Children may also consider suicide if they have been victims of abuse.

Some countries like Saudi Arabia have noticed that women opt for suicide as a way of dealing with social pressures. It is a sad way

for them to escape a strict society. Another cause for suicide may be due to the fear of assimilating in another society. That may be

complicated with new traditions that are prevalent in the adopting country. Others may use suicide as an excuse to carry out a mission

which to them is sacred to their religious beliefs. This form is very hard to deal with on this side of the Atlantic as suicide bombers have

increasingly made their marks in the Middle East and other troubled spots in the world.

Some react and demonstrate their discontent violently when it comes to a poor academic performance or a jilted romantic affair.

Others internalize that violence and punish themselves because they see no outlet. Suicide is then a reaction to a number

of pressure inducing situations that cannot be handled peacefully. The person has little or no outlet and may have been

dumped by a girlfriend as happened in Rome in recent years at the engineering faculty. The student ordered all the males to

leave the class, and then he opened fire on the young women there. He then shot himself.

Another student also at Rome, who was not content with his grades, shot his professor at the parking lot before killing himself.

Clearly this is more brutal form of suicide and is strangely overlooked as symptomatic of a depressed anguished person, in my opinion.

He is just seen as a killer instead of being understood as potentially suicidal and dangerous to students and teachers around him.
