Parents and Siblings Against Substance Abuse (Pasasa)

All to often we see and hear of another young adult who as overdosed and parents and or siblings who are dealing with the aftermath. PASASA is a title that has two meanings ,parents and sibilings against substance abuse, and we need to"pasasa" law to protect our youth.

  1. In many states right now there is a young person  fighting drug abuse and addiction, and in lots of cases there is no where for them to turn. What I mean by that is ninety percent of the time these young adults have underlying problems, such as  Bipolar disorder, manic depressive disorder, or worse.  Anyway, they have problems and they do not always let people who care about them know. So when parents find out we always do the same things.
  2. First, we blame ourselves after all how could we have not noticed. Well I am here to tell you the youth these days hide things very well. We need to understand that the youth who has these problems are ashamed of themselves and do not want to admit to the people whom they love the most, they have this type of problem.
  3.  Second, we need to understand that they are self medicating to make themselves feel better .
  4.  Third ,you as a parent are going to try to talk them into rehab  to most likely be told “no way”, so at that point you  can not do anything to help because there are no laws to protect our offspring because they are now18 yrs old. To me this is not acceptable.
  5. For 18 yrs we raise, feed, and love them .
  6. Now we are just suppose to let them go astray. Well I am a mother who will not do that . Tough love does not work in most cases like this. You also can not baby them either .
  7. The Law’s are written so if you have a mentally ill child, you can ask the courts to deem them ”mentally incompetent ” however, if you have a child who is not capable of making the right “choices “you are at the mercy of the law. Which is not in your favor.
  8.  I have asked congress to pass a law  to give parents the right to ga temporary power of attorney from our children to get them the help they need to survive, to no prevail.
  9.  I am not sitting back on this so I ask all parents out there who have a child in need, to help me in my quest for justice for our children.
