Technology can stress us out.
If you find that you have trouble relaxing when you get home after a hard day at work, then you might find that you would benefit from putting all of your technology out of your mind from when you get home, to the moment you get to bed. I know that personally, I am currently watching the television, writing on my laptop and replying to text messages and emails all at the same time. Many of us do the same thing every single day and this means that our minds just don’t get the time that they need to relax at the end of a hard day.
If you feel as though you must use your phone or your laptop, make sure that you set time limits to use these, and be strict with yourself. Online, it’s too easy to say that you’ll be online for half an hour and then find that actually, you’ve spent the best part of your evening online when you should have been relaxing.
People who work in an office are particularly guilty of this, as they spend the whole of their day in front of a computer screen only to come home from work and do exactly the same thing when they should be relaxing.
Make time for yourself, and set specific activities that you plan to do in order to make sure that you have time for yourself. Examples of this could be taking a bath, reading a book or magazine, or going to the gym. If you’re feeling particularly stressed, then exercise can really reduce this stress and this means that you are able to reduce stress whilst ensuring that you do not subject yourself to any more stress from the technology that you’re using.
You should find that your life is a lot better when you get rid of some of the stress that affects us every day. This will mean that we are healthier and happier, which can only be a good thing.
