Clinical depression is a combination of symptoms that interfere with a person’s ability to work, sleep, study, eat, and enjoy once pleasurable activities. It is disabling and interefere’s with the person’s daily activities and normal functioning. A low intensity version of clinical depression is called dysthymia. Another important type of depression is Bipolar disorder which alternates with episodes of high mood called mania and low mood called depression.
Recent studies conducted by Harvard University and the World Health organization suggest that almost half of us will have a disorder of mood, anxiety, drug use or memory in our lives. Depression for example is the second largest cause of disability second only to heart disease. Depression is common. It is also treatable and in most cases curable.

Personally, I think depression can be motivating. The word maybe overused a bit. It would make sense that there is a state of feeling that is abnormal and could be dangerous for those around someone who exceptional depressed and themselves. But when depression is more like the feeling of wanting to be motivated for feeling productive, well, maybe it can help some personalities become creative and produce successful tactics that help them and others feel better about their environment and themselves. I think you probably know where I’m coming from.
