Small Steps to Success
This article looks at how chunking a task or goal down into small steps can actually be an excellent motivational strategy.
I don’t believe that there is a single person alive in the world that would not wish for something that they don’t already have or like to experience. Even those who allegedly live charmed lives all have something they wish to possess (or experience) which has yet to occur to them. So what is it in your life that you wish to achieve? If you can’t think of anything, here are few common examples of what many people wish for;
- Gaining the perfect figure with super health
- The dream job, perhaps allowing one to work from home or avoid the morning rush
- To go it alone, running their own business with a ton of money
- To find the one, someone who has all the qualities we look for in a partner
- To get laid (naturally many shallow people will have shallow desires)
Naturally not all the wishes in your list of wishes are going to be achievable by you alone. For instance, if you want to have a better relationship with your father, or perhaps want somebody to come through for you, than it is not completely within your control. You can only be in control and responsible for yourself, you can’t control others (and thankfully, vice versa).
Yet many people don’t even believe they can truly control themselves in order to achieve their desires (goals). The reason for why many (in my opinion, most people) is because they have tried before to achieve some goal, set off with all the willpower they could muster and yet still failed. This has probably happened to you before; I know it has happened to me.
In fact, I will even go as far as to say that most of the big goals which you set yourself out to achieve, you probably failed in achieving. Now I am not trying to call you a failure but it is just a matter of fact that most of the goals we set for ourselves never get completed. And to top it all off, 99% of the self-development books on the bookshelves don’t really provide much guidance. Instead, they claim that you simply aren’t setting your goals properly or worse still, at you aren’t taking big enough action. Talk about crushing your esteem when you are already struggling (both in esteem and determination) to reach your goal!

You always need to set yourself goals, but just try to make sure they are achievable ones. My next one’s a ferrari…. of the tonka toy variety *grins*

It’s a wonderful tip. Even in management also say about set (small) goals/steps toward your main objective. By doing this you will able to control where you are, also help to reduce your pressure, and also encourage you to walk through your goal with is toward your main objective. Doing one thing at a time is the key and being committed to work it out to the end. Sometimes we set goals that are too big for us. We don’t have the skills or knowledge to complete them and we let other people or things get in the way.

If you dream big and aim high, you can achieve it with every small step to success.
