Symptoms of Depression
Approximately 17,000,000 people in the United States are suffering from depression. About 20,000,000 Hispanic males suffer from some type of anxiety disorder, but the majority of them refuse to acknowledge it because they are too macho or "machistas." to speak to a psychologist. These shocking statistics were revealed during a television program by a doctor who spoke about depression and its symptoms.
Feelings of Pessimism or pro-longed sadness is referred to depression. Waking up in the morning and not wanting to accomplish much. It is normal to feel lazy and unmotivated at times, however, depression is not temporary and it is usually harder to snap out of it than just having a case of the blues. For instance, when somebody is feeling down or sad, just going out for a walk to the park or taking a long nap is a great way to lift your spirit. In contrast, pessimism is characterized by very low energy and sleep disturbances. After listening to a show on the radio by a doctor who spoke on depression and anxiety disorders, I learned that about 20,000,000 Hispanic males suffer from some type of anxiety disorder, but the majority refuse to seek any type of professional help. It is evident that society puts a lot of pressure on guys to be macho and as a result, admitting that they are suffering from anxiety or depression can be perceived as a sign of weakness for men. But keeping your emotions bottled up inside is not healthy either.
In the United States, there are approximately 17,000,000 people suffering from depression. According to psychologists, a number of people are suffering from both anxiety and depression and are undiagnosed. Eating a healthy breakfast, exercising and meditation are some ways to reduce stress and anxiety and lift your mood. Whenever you are feeling down, stop and close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Inhale and hold for three seconds and exhale. This is a great stress releasor. Another way to beat the blues is by laughing often throughout the day. Listening to music relaxes your mind and soul. This afternoon, I was in one of those grouchy moods and very sleepy since I did go out last night and had to wake up early this morning. So I grabbed a cup of coffee from Starbucks and a Cheese Danish around 6pm before arriving home. Then, I took a nap with the jazz station on and felt so much better after.
These days most people are anxious and stressed out. Why not make an appointment for a chair massage? If you are lucky to have a jacuzzi at home, this is also a stress buster. But if you do notice a change in your eating habits, feelings of sadness for more than three to six months, sleep disturbances, low energy and negative thoughts getting in the way of your regular tasks and activities, do seek a professional. Taking Action is an important step in healing.

Great article. Depression is an illness and your article highlights the health risks that depression can do to everyone.
I find having a bath or shower helps calm the nerves, as well as having a cup of tea, or chamomile. Having good friends and a supportive social life helps as well.

Good article. Those people who have clinical depression have a life long problem and will need medical treatment to cope with their condition.

In my opinion depression is the biggest problem in this world today. It creates problems not only for themselves but for everyone around them especially children.Depression has its very own lifestyle and comfort zone that makes it very difficult to break into.Exercise is the most important way to approach this along will a realistic private goal.I believe that every country should have a program where people with depression must attend for intensive training and activities and relearn the way to live and think. If they dont pass they do it all again ontil they are motivated to a point or self realisation and a new zest for a better future for themselves and the loved ones around them. Its no good going to the doctor to be prescribed tablets and therapy.Immediate action is needed for this person as simple advice is just not good enought.Good write marlene…

Good article, but there are so many kinds of depression and so many different degrees to the disorder that sometimes one will need clinical help to get relief. A great piece.
