Three Self Help Tips for Depression
Doctors never seem to have enough time to offer self-help for depression. They will never tell you that although they prescribe SSRIs for you increase your serotonin levels and consequently, your mood, there are other side effects will kick and affect your entire lifestyle negatively, if you’re not careful. Why is this? They never tell you that serotonin is a chemical in the brain also controls appetite, digestion, our reaction to pain and the clarity with which we can think of! Therefore there are many side effects ranging from loss of sex drive to weight problems, let alone sleep. But using natural depression is accessible to all.
Self help for depression may seem like an unrealistic goal when you have absolutely no interest in someone or something outside the black hole, you’re in. That’s why you need someone who will call you every day. It may be a close friend or family member. This is the first car for my help after the depression. A first step to keep a small and supportive relationship alive.
Second tip is to make a list of all the things you liked or even wanted to do and give you pleasure. This can range from food, music, film, a hot bath, a long walk or even play with a dog or cat. If you can answer one or two of these things every day is a good start.
Third tip is not to underestimate the power of exercise. Scientists are now absolutely certain that everything from the exercise has a beneficial effect on our mood (and also on our body) that can sometimes replace anti-depressants. If you are stressed or just completely down, exercise can really brighten your mood and get those endorphins which in turn will increase your serotonin levels. It is no coincidence that the endorphins are called “happy chemicals”. Brisk walking for thirty minutes a few times a week may be the case if you have no desire to face the gym and all that goes with it.
Muffins, chocolate and ice cream, all are called “comfort foods”, and not without reason. Only problem is they are refined carbohydrates and while they will brighten your mood and help you feel better, the problem is that they will cause a mood swing that your blood sugar level blood does not remain stable. This may worsen the situation if the best thing to do is to strive for a maximum of four light meals or snacks per day as hunger can cause irritability.
Fourth tip is to go for every mood enhancers you can get. They include complex carbohydrates such as bananas, whole wheat bread, rice, pasta and oatmeal. Make sure you have enough green leafy vegetables, chicken and eggs to full of vitamin B. You do not even go on a diet all you need is to have a few of these things by hand or in your pantry.
