Why is The World Getting More and More Depressed?
After giving long thought to the subject, I may have just come up with a slightly plausible reason.
It seems we hear of more and more people being diagnosed with depression and various other mental illness. Some doctors say it’s stress, some say it’s genetics, and sometimes, they just don’t know. I believe I may why. Because people are bored.
That’s right, because they are bored. With machines and computers doing just about everything for us nowadays, we have an excess of time to waste sitting idly with our thoughts. We have more time to think about our problems, and all of the new problems which may occur. All of these negative thoughts overwhelm us, into a state of depression, even when life is going perfectly.
Another contribution to the rise of depression may just lie in the dumbing down of the masses. Most people today know of many things they may have learned in books and the internet, but many of them are lacking another vital point of knowledge: Common sense. Common sense would tell them just how ridiculous and exaggerated their problems are. So many people would be happier if, instead of stewing in what may happen or what will happen tomorrow, they focused on what is happening now.
