10 Amazing Health Benefits of Avocado

Avocados are brimming with health benefits as it contain more than 25 essential vitamins and minerals. Here are 10 reasons why you shouldn’t pass up this fruit.

Persea Americana is called by various names including: avocado, alligator pear, butter pear, palta and aguacate. As avocado is more renowned in cooking preparations, it is sometimes believed to be a vegetable when it is in fact a fruit. Though it has become famous mainly due to the preparation of guacamole, avocados can actually be easily prepared by eating it straight or dipping it in sugar. In the Philippines, it is made into a sherbet by mashing the ripe fruit and adding milk and sugar and then chilled or frozen and eaten like ice cream.

The word “avocado” comes from the word ─ühuacatl,  meaning “testicle,” in reference to the shape of the fruit. The Aztecs called it “the fertility fruit” and considered it a sexual stimulant.
