An Apple a Day Seven Different Ways
A quick check on the internet or a glance through almost any nutrition book will show you how beneficial apples are to maintaining good health. Here are seven ways to enjoy an apple a day.
Day 1
Peel and slice several apples. Put them in a pot with a small amount of water. Bring to a boil and cook until apple slices are tender. Add cinnamon and sugar to taste. Enjoy a warm bowl of apples. Place the remaining apples in the refrigerator for later use.
Day 2
Spread peanut butter on uncooked apple slices and enjoy as a mid afternoon or evening snack.
Day 3
Prepare a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Add some of the previously cooked apples and some raisins to the oatmeal.
Day 4
Peel an apple half way down its side. Remove core. In a small bowl mix a small amount of brown sugar, cinnamon and ground cloves together. Fill the opening where the core in the apple was with the brown sugar mixture. Place apple in microwave and cook until tender.
Day 5
Spread vegetable blend flavor of cream cheese (or any flavor you choose) on apple slices and enjoy as a snack.
Day 6
Prepare pork chops for dinner one evening and add stewed apples to the pork during the last five minutes of cooking time. Cover and simmer. The apples add a delicious flavor to the pork.
Day 7
Dip apple slices in prepared apple dips that can be purchased at most grocery stores.
