Beware! Something Unusual May Be in Your Food

Dozen or even more toxins may have ended up in your stomach. No wonder, chemical and pesticide residues have become main ingredients in our diet. Many of us may have carried unhealthy levels of toxic chemicals in our bodies. So, be careful and alerted on what you put into your mouth!

Although U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has convinced us with reduced pesticides used on vegetables and fruits, there are still foods loaded with chemicals flooding our local market. Cranberries, grapes, pears, raspberries, plums, oranges, apples, peaches, cherries, watermelons, bananas, lemons, cantaloupes, tangerines, grapefruits are some of the known fruits which have been reported with detectable pesticides. According to the laboratory test, apples and peaches are among the worst fruits that are packed with the maximum number of chemicals/pesticides. Green beans, cucumbers, cauliflowers, mushrooms, lettuce, celery, sweet bell peppers, spinach, potatoes, eggplant, sweet potatoes, broccoli, tomatoes, winter squash, carrots are some of the vegetables that were found to be contaminated with the most heavily-laden pesticides, but lettuce and celery are among the vegetables with the worst contamination.

Not surprisingly, if one finds much poison go into their bodies due to the intake of certain foods. Clinical reports have proved that those who eat conventional foods have been shown to have substantially higher level of biological markers of organophosphates (Note: These chemicals are known to cause nerve damage. Previously, organochlorines, highly toxic and non-biodegradable chemicals were used to treat crops but later they were banned and are now replaced with organophospates) and other residues appearing in their urine, blood and saliva, in which the toxicity levels were considered above the safe level by health institutions.

The chemical compound found in the pesticides, as according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), can bring neurological effects particularly among the children. Meanwhile, these chemicals do block the absorption of essential nutrients for healthy growth of children especially when their internal organs are still developing. In some cases, the pesticide residues may be harmful and toxic for pregnant moms, pets, patients, and elderly.

Nowadays, many of the toxic chemicals used in farming are a public health concern as they‘re closely linked to cancer, infertility, birth defects, abnormality, deformation, mentally retarded diseases among the babies and other chronic or acute health issues due to both chronic long-term exposure and acute poisoning. Additionally, the medical personnel have connected pesticide exposure to memory decline, destabilisation of moods, Parkinson’s, depression, asthma, migraine, irritable bowel, rhinitis, eczema, aggressive outbursts and 40% of them have been proved to be cancer promoting. The toxic genetic chemicals (such as hormones, steroids, herbicides, insecticides and etc.) for example, can cause destruction to environment, ecosystem and food webs if they’re used widely in agriculture or on foods. Imagine that the destruction of these chemicals can be equal to the damage by 72,500 atomic bombs of Hiroshima type (or 145 H-bombs of 14 megatons each)! In short, the combination of multiple chemicals is extremely harmful to both our health and environment.

  13. Thanks for this very helpful information, Chan. I just had an apple yesterday. I agree with the others who said organic is the way to go. Thanks so much for letting us know what is going on with fruits and vegetables.

  14. Good Work Chan, as usual. :) Dugg and Stumbled..

  26. Your articles information is one I’ve have always considered to be a matter of concern. Great article that confirmes all my doubts.

  27. That is a shocker! A real eye opener. Thanks for your research and very interesting article.

  28. I was very happy to read this article: the topic is very close to my heart. But then, we as consumers don’t have much choice, and all the knowledge doesn’t protect us; and unless we band together and fight for health, fight for ethical practices to be followed by the industry, we are going to see a steep rise in cancer.

  29. apt

  30. Freaky! I try to buy organic, but still have a long way to go, especially since most of my shopping is at the Asian market which doesn’t offer much organic variety. Plus, I eat a lot of veggies and fruits and purchasing everything organic does add up. But health is key, so thank you for laying out of this important information.

  31. A very informative piece. But all that fumigating and and pesticiding is another strategy for preserving the food. This is how marketing industry is. They put their need for large sale and big profit ahead of human health. Thanks for sharing.
    Monica.

  32. Another well-researched and informative post, Chan. Fruits and vegetables are staples in a healthy diet so we need to really be mindful of how they are grown and kept.

  33. and then people wonder why cancer is so prevalent! We are being poisoned by contaminated poor quality food that fails to nourish our body cells. It’s a wonder that more people aren’t sicker.

This could also explain why each generation seems to be getting weaker and succumbing to disease at earlier ages.

  34. This article was written in order to get people to buy products that are 100% Organic. There is no proof to substantiate the author’s bogus claims. Liars, Liars, Liars…………………….

  35. To Gustavo Badell,

What I said here is a TRUTH, based upon the REAL FACT. If you disagree with me, show me proofs, don’t just throw me “Liars liars liars”.

I don’t urge people to buy 100% organic, but people are encouraged to do so if they really want to eat pesticide free foods for the sake of optimum health.

Don’t just throw rubbish or say unrealistic facts here to confuse the readers.

    Regards,
    Chan

  36. You might as well not eat any fruit and veg. Grow vegetables in your own garden is the safest. Excelent article.

  37. It is really great share
