Celery is a vegetable that contains about 95% water. While many people might think that celery may not contain very much nutritional value due to the fact that it is such a light food, it in fact is an incredibly valuable food. Within just one cup of celery you can find 2 grams of fiber, 34 grams of foliate, approximately 19 calories and about 0.16 grams of fat. You can actually end up burning more calories eating celery than your body will take on consuming it.

Celery contains fiber, foliate, and potassium. Its fiber content will help keep your system regular. And, foliate is not only an essential nutrient for the care and production of new cells within the body it might even help protect your body against cancer. In addition, celery can help fight the potential risks caused during the birthing process. Women are highly encouraged to snack on this important treat during before and during pregnancies.

The potassium found in celery is yet another great incentive to start snacking on this great vegetable. Potassium is an invaluable nutrient that works to reduce blood pressure and subsequently the risk of a stroke. It also helps with the control of our muscles and nerves. On average, the research suggests that about 2,000 milligrams a day or more is best for the maintenance of a healthy diet.

It is good to know that when you are getting hunger cravings it is often a sign that you are actually thirsty. In this case it is a good idea to opt for a glass of water and if you cannot stave off your hunger craving the high percentage of water content in celery makes them an excellent second choice to a tall glass of water.

So the next time you get a hunger craving, why not reach for some celery sticks? They are crisp, refreshing and healthy. And, if you want to spice them up a bit, why not add fat free cottage cheese to them with a zing of strawberry jam! Yes, I just recently tried this and it is a delicious treat! You can also try it dipped in fat free salad dressings or you can choose to whip up your own fat free dips like mustard mixed with soy sauce. It’s simple and tasty and won’t add unwanted pounds to your waistline.

Your health and well being is worth the world. You can make important changes in your diet to not only better how you feel everyday, but greatly increase the length of you life!

You can eat better, be well, be happy, and take care of yourselves and others!

  4. im eating celery rite now u think i can loose some in 6 days i am 140

  5. Dear Carla,

Thank you so kindly for your comment. Great question! It depends on many different factors, but if you are eating celery in place of other high caloric foods and you end up consuming less calories, than you will definitely lose weight. For example, if you eat the same way you do everyday, however, instead of drinking a 120 (120 x 6 = 720) calorie soda you choose a cup of celery that is only 19 (19 x 6 = 114) calories, over 6 days you will have you will have saved yourself 606 calories! There are approximately 3500 calories in a pound and if you’re burning off more calories than you are consuming, you will certainly lose weight.

You can and WILL do it – if you want something enough, you can achieve anything!

Blessings & best wishes to all.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

  6. i have the same question but what if i eat chiken with rice and drinking celery is that good to or no

  7. Dear jennifer,

Thank you so kindly for your comment. I do know that chicken is one of the healthiest meat choices, over beef and pork, however, vegetarians might have a different opinion over meat entirely. Also, people have differing opinions about rice as well, especially white rice as it tends to fill you up quickly, give you a sugar spike and leave you hungry very shortly after. Many people recommend brown (wheat) rice instead.

And, celery is good with anything! It helps fill you up with hardly any calories and tons of nutrition.

    Hopefully this was helpful!

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

  8. Hello Liane, I have many questions. i have high blood pressure dose celery help. and if it dose what is the best way to do it. Is celery bad for kind of dease? Also how much is too much to eat?

  9. Dear Olivia,

While I am not a nutrition expert, I believe that making important healthy diet changes will always positively impact any negative health issues you may have. Oftentimes the body suffers from maladies because we are not giving it the proper nutrition. If you decide to eat celery instead of opting for junkfood you are definitely on the right path to lowering your blood pressure. And, I don’t think that you can eat too much celery, however, celery does contain a high volume of sodium so you might want to take that into account. Everything in moderation is a good rule of thumb. Listen to your body, take time to really trust your instincts and what your body needs – - sometimes when we quiet the mind, we can hear what our body needs from us.

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

  10. is celery good for a diabetic person?

  11. It’s good for a diabetic in the sense that it won’t do them any harm. It’s not going to spike their blood sugar. But it is not a ‘cure’ for diabetes or anything. But if you or a friend are diabetic, chomp away at celery, it won’t hurt anything. Keep an eye on your/their blood sugar levels because if you start replacing, say, a cookie with a celery stalk (or 3 ;-) ..), their current insulin intake could be too much for the new diet.

  12. question. I have been eating celery w/ natural peanut butter, after my workout in the later part of the evening. Does the time matter w/ such foods?

  13. Me too i’m literally a rabbit!:D

  14. The tangibility is that before I started eating celery my ecxitment wasn’t that prepossessing…. LOL :)
