Lunch is an important nutritious meal of the day. A meal with chips and sandwich lunch may deplete you of necessary nutrients in the long run. A well cooked and packed meal from home is more nutritious and it does not cost you a fortune.

By packing a lunch from home, you save a lot of money which otherwise would be spend in a fast food chain or a food outlet. Preparing a lunch does not mean you have to wake up very early. A lunch can be precooked the night before or some items can be pre-prepared to be cooked in the morning. Even a great way to pack hot food without loosing morning sleep is to use a slow cooker. By being little creative and imaginative, you can carry a tasty and healthy lunch to office.

Vegetable rice: Whole grain rice is a carbohydrate rich food and adding four-five varieties of vegetable can make it more nutritious and delicious. Stir fry veggies, eggs or minced chicken to the rice with favourite seasonings as garlic or whole spices.

Oatmeal porridge: An oatmeal porridge can be instantly prepared if your workplace has a microwave. End the porridge with slices of fruits or steamed veggies packed in a hot pack lunch box.

Tortilla wraps: .Prepare a mixed vegetable bean gravy and wrap inside a microwaved tortilla with some cottage cheese. Wrap in an aluminium foil and eat in style just like a sandwich.

Instant lunches: On a busy day, consider a non-perishable ready made lunch. Many super market chains sell dry porridge’s and soups with lots of veggies. Add some water and microwave to prepare an instant lunch. End such meal with crackers, slices of different fruits or a fruit yogurt.

Desserts: Sugarless fruit juices, low fat milk or a low fat fruit yogurt can be a great choice.

End the lunch with water. It is not only free of calories but can provide fullness enabling better digestion.

Cooking a nutritious meal to office requires some pre-planing anyway. Shop for fresh fruits, veggies and other groceries and plan ahead for week day lunches. Little of preparation and little time spend to cook and pack the lunch is worth the effort. It adds saved money to your bank account and helps you to enjoy better health for rest of your life.
