As many of us know, fruits and vegetables are rich in anti-oxidants which are powerful enemies against aging. They are packed with various vitamins and minerals which can help the skin glow.One should eat a variety of fruits and vegetables in order to have a young, healthy, glowing skin. Application of the fruits and vegetables over the skin is also beneficial. Fruits can be divided based on their colours and their benefits can be as below:
1. The yellows and oranges:
The powerful orange/yellow coloured vegetables symbolize “glow” and are considered as a very good beautifying agent. Carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, apricots, lemons, papaya etc fall under this category. They provide a lot of beta-carotene and vitamin c which helps in keeping teh skin free from infections. This also helps in providing elasticity to the skin, thus delaying ageing.
Tomatoes, red peppers, watermelons, guavas, cranberries, strawberries, come under this category. The pigment lycopene present in these fruits and vegetables are antioxidants and provide protection against strong rays. They are also packed wiht lots of vitamin C which again is a whitening agent even if applied superficially.
Broccoli, cabbage, sprouts green peas, breans and all the green leafy vegetables fall under this category. Loads of folic acid and vitamin c healp fighting cancer and many other diseases. They are rich in fibre and help in flushing out toxins from the body.
4. Blues and Purples:
Beetroots, plums, blackberries, brinjals, purple cabbage, blueberries etc come under this category. These are packed with minerals and vitamins which have anti-aging properties and help in increasing the skin elasticity. They are fillling and are rich sources of fibre too.
About 4-5 servings or raw fruits and vegetables consumed daily will definitely give good results. One can definitely feel the skin more moist, fresh, elastic and full of life!!!
