Don’t Skip Breakfast: Eat a Healthy One Instead
Studies show that eating simple foods with a low glycemic index (such as whole grain breads and cereals, oats and fruit) improves mid-morning mental performance.
A single packet of oatmeal contains only about 150 calories and has 3 grams of dietary fiber. Studies show that it lowers cholesterol and reduces the risk of heat disease and type 2 diabetes. It contains loads of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Preparing a pot of coffee is under ten minutes. If you don’t enjoy drinking coffee, then why not have a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice? One medium orange has 3 grams of dietary fiber, 1 gram of protein and only about 60 calories. A warm breakfast is under two minutes. How long does it take to put a slice of bread inside the toaster? And if you like strawberry or grape jam, you can add some to your toast. However, if you prefer yogurt or fruit instead of toast, then why not have a banana? A single banana is not only a good source of fiber but it also contains over 400 mg of potassium, a mineral that’s essential for maintaining healthy blood pressure. If you enjoy pouring milk and strawberries or blueberries over your cereal, it is a good idea to choose either an oat or bran cereal instead of the sugary cereals, which cause you to feel sluggish by noon. The American Dietetic Association recommends a minimum of three servings of whole grains per day and even recommends whole-wheat toast with peanut butter for a quick and healthy breakfast.

According to studies, the number one excuse for Americans not to have breakfast is: Not enough time or I am too busy. In the time it takes to say, “I don’t have time for breakfast”, you could have eaten a hard-boiled egg, an orange and a bowl of whole grain cereal with a glass of low-fat milk. This simple breakfast already includes your protein and fiber. And what a great way to start off your day. Not only will you have more energy, but you won’t be starving by lunch-time.

Many people don’t realise how important breakfast is and its health benefits are amazing. Thanks for letting everyone know that breakfast is important and it isn’t right to just ignore it.
