How much Energy do we need?
Nutrition is a science that deals with food and how the body uses it.People, like, all living things, need food to live.Food supplies the energy for every actionwe perform, from reading a book to running a race.Food also provides susbstances that the body needs to build and repair its tissues and to regulate its organs and systems.
The body’s need for energy from the diet varies not only with activity ,s ex, health and climate but also with age. The size of the diet depends upon the energy requirements from birth to adulthood.Upto 2 years old, the rapidly growing child needs more than anyone in proportion to size ; by old age , when metabolism is slowest, the needs is far more less.
Water is needed in great amounts because the body consists largely of water.Usually between 50 and 70 % of a person’s body weight is made up of water.
