Fact-based Reasons on Why It Makes Sense to Turn Vegetarian and Vegan

Show your love for animals, plants and humans; the entire planet we live on, by turning vegetarian and vegan. It’s the sensible and healthy choice for everyone and here are just some fact-based reasons why. All the best, dear friends.

1.  Vegetarian diets protect our bodies from diseases as they contain lower saturated fat, cholesterol and animal protein as well as higher folates, antioxidant vitamins and plant nutrients.

2.  95 percent of entire food poisoning comes directly from meat and animal products.

3.  Vegetarians are more unlikely to suffer strokes caused by coronary artery disease.

4.  Cancer rates are 25-50 per cent less in vegetarians as compared with non-vegetarians.

5.   Vegetarians have half to three quarters the risk of death caused by heart disease opposed to non-vegetarians.

6.  You can live longer and suffer less from several chronic diseases by giving up meat.

7.  Vegetarian mothers have a much lower case of Cesarean section.

8.  Vegetarian diets have been highly successful in arresting and reversing severe coronary artery disease.

9.  High blood pressure (hypertension) in vegetarians is one third to one half that of meat eaters.

10. Diabetes is more likely to kill off meat eaters than vegetarians.

11.  Turning vegetarian will ensure that your obesity rates will lessen as well as risk of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, large bowel disorders, cancers and gallstones.

12.  Modern research has proven that senile dementia is linked to a BSE-like ‘prion’ found in meat.

13.  Vegetarians and vegans have excellent health and protein is not a limiting factor.

14.  Zinc levels are always normal in vegetarians.

15.  Vegetarians and vegans have much more higher intakes of folic acid than omnivores.

16.  Antioxidants can protect you against more than 60 diseases and are found mainly in fruit and vegetables.  They also destroy ‘free radicals’.

17.  Vegetarian and vegan diets are cool for kids as they meet all the nutritional requirements of infants and adolescents.

18.  Vegetarians are not more likely to suffer anaemia than meat eaters.

19.  Cholesterol levels are dramatically reduced in a vegetarian diet (cholesterol is linked to heart disease) and fruit and vegetables contain none.

20.  Remember, MEAT IS MURDER.  The amount of vegetarian protein fed to the US beef herd would feed almost the entire populations of China and India, which is two billion people.

21.  As one of my real-life heroes, Paul McCartney says, (quote) ‘Going veggie saves animals and people, protects the environment and is one of the healthiest things you can do!” (unquote) and I completely agree with him 100%; hope you do too.

  1. Wow, these are some solid facts and some of them are quite harrowing! Especially, the one about vegetarian mothers and C sections, scary! My entire family is vegetarian, but I love chicken so it might take more than a few facts to convert me I’m afraid. I’m defo more aware though!

  2. I’ve been vegetarian for over 10 years now, but I didn’t know just how beneficial it is for my health!

  4. Wow this was some great information and valuable as well, well written article.

  5. Very informative for Non Vegeterians. We should take balanced diet but ofcourse veges more. Antioxidants are present only in fruits and vegetables, and protect from different diseases. Fortunately I am vegetarian. Really very good article.

  6. Most people have no idea how cruely their food animals are raised.. if they did, they would be sick to eat as much meat as they do.

I suggest people try having 2-5 meatless meals a week, or at least have smaller portions of meat when they do – if not to make life less cruel for other animals – for the above health reasons.
