Five-Hour Energy: A Powerful, Long-Lasting Boost Within Minutes

Packed with B vitamins, essential nutrients, amino acids, and no crash; it truly lives up to what it promises. (However, with any diet supplement, take care and use with caution)

I think for the most part, I can maintain pretty high levels of energy, but every so often when I’ve stayed up too late or had a restless night’s sleep, sometimes I need to turn to outside energy boosters.

In the past, I’ve written several articles about energy boosting tips and options.  Here are a few of them:

In addition to these ideas, about 2 months ago, I finally tried a 5 Hour Energy Shot.  I had seen the commercials and found them conveniently at every single 7-eleven I had visited.  I have even picked them up a few times and scrutinized the label to check for any unnatural ingredients.

As far as I could see, it only contained B vitamins, essential nutrients and amino acids.  And, of all the energy drinks I have seen so far, it is the most natural and contains only four calories.  There are no herbal stimulants, no sugar, and about the same caffeine content as a regular cup of coffee.  And, I just discovered that they also offer it in decaf!

It took me awhile to really take in how amazing this energy shot sounded.  And, when I finally decided to try it, I was doubly amazed.  The directions tell you to take ½ the bottle, but if you need more energy you can take the full shot.  I downed the whole thing and within minutes, I could feel the difference.  As incredible as it sounds, it was like an instant shot of pure energy that lasted the full five hours without any crash just like the commercials promised.  I wished I had found it sooner.

But, as a practice, I try my best to avoid external stimulants if I can.  I like to feel my best naturally.  As a result, since the first time, I’ve only had 5 Hour Energy about three more times.  I also try not to drink it too often because I heard your body can grow immune to them.  Because I don’t want this to happen, I only drink them when I feel like I really, really need to.

(Please note: You should not drink 5 Hour Energy if you have been diagnosed with PKU (phenylketonuria), if you are pregnant or nursing, or if you are a child under the age of 12.)

  1. Interesting piece. Just use these products with caution, and remember: just because it is natural doesn’t mean it is healthy (cyanide in peach pits!).
    Thanks,
    Clay

  2. It sounds like a great drink. A good emergency energy booster.

    Christine

  3. I normally will not put anything like this in my body. I don’t care what the advertizements claim. I stick with the old trusted and known drink, coffee. I believe truck drivers use this stuff a lot.

  4. Good informative article. I haven’t tried one yet, but after reading your review i plan to. Well done.

  5. Great review! I sometimes eat vitamin too.

  6. Energy……..now that is something I could use right now! Thanks for the advice.

  7. I don’t know. Energy drinks are a little scary.

  8. I actually use these when I am feeling sick, the boost seems to help me get over the illness very quickly and gives me some temporary fuel when I need it the most. I do not take these on a regular basis as I was starting to have some problems with anxiety from drinking Taurine.

  9. I’ve been so sketchy about this 5 hour energy drink because like alot of others in the past , they almost always contained some negated effects. I personally enjoy your articles on health and fitness tips. Sometimes I myself need something to this effect but of course I’m always weary about them all. But since you say there’s only 4 calories and no crash afterwards , I think I will try it sometime soon. Thanks for the great tips as always Liane…

    God Bless you and yours….

  10. Nice article.
Since I’m very scared about them, I would try it one day..

    Yours, Gonzalo

  11. Correction:

Although I’m very scared about them, I would try it one day..

    Yours, Gonzalo

  12. Great article as always. At time, some energy drinks may seem to benefit our health, but it’s always better to learn more about these products before purchasing. As for me, I’d strongly agree that the natural foods are more beneficial than the processed one.

  13. As always, really informative piece.

  14. Never used any of these. Touch wood! Like Clay Hurtubise said, remember all that is natural is not always good, too much of a good thing can be bad.

  15. This has a wealth of information. Anyone looking for some advice on these med should look no further.

  16. A really informative article on the 5 hour energy booster which will benefit lots of people. I enjoyed reading and learning from it. Superb writing skills!

  17. Good article again, thanks for sharing, it has to be worth a try!

  18. This is great work. I enjoyed viewing it. The artistic talent comes forth well in your works. I look forward to more pieces from you. Well done.

  19. I too avoid external stimulants as much as I can. I have seen this, but knew nothing about it. Thought it was another one of those 90% sugar drinks.

BTW: did you see my UFO and Cocktail articles?

  20. Don’t need it, but thanks for the product evaluation.

  21. don`t need it too.. I eat lots of bananas..

  22. Hi!
Honestly, anything manufactured in laboratories are aint natural for me anymore. I would still go for natural food as sources of nutrients.
    Shalom!

  23. Sometimes I need it. An interesting article about energy drink.

  24. There was only one time I drank an energy drink, that was when I went mountain climbing about four years ago. Interesting share.

  25. I’ve always wondered about this product,
Sounds like it would be worth a try though,
    Great article!

  26. Think I might pick one up next time in 7 11

  27. I need energy!

  28. this will be of big help, thanks

  29. When I was in my teens, my mothers doctor used to give her vitamin B12 shots–the kind that came in a syringe, not a bottle. He told her that this was an emergency measure only, and that prolonged use could unbalance the system. Later, when I was reading about nutrition a lot, I read that the full complex of B vitamins should be taken whenever using a supplement because they needed each other to work together. I have reservations about “energy drinks” that depend on B12.

  30. Wow…sounds like something I should have on hand for those really extra tired times.

    My Best to you,
    Momma Tells

  31. Thanks, an interesting write.

  32. Yes I am all for health. I have tried this before and it is really good. Good price to. I also drink Fuze, those are my favorite. Great article.

  33. This sounds like the caffeine energy drinks like “Red Bull” and others of the like. They can be dangerous for those who have heart disease, hypertension or kidney problems.I would ask my doctor how safe it is.

  34. I’ve tried this miracle shot and it works just like you said. Like it!

  35. as with any , its srongly recommended to not to take if on other meds and to check with your doctor before any experimenting with energy booster drinks.
the only adverse i see is if you are sensitive to niacin .. then its best to start out with a half shot…; (to much niacin may cause a feeling of flush or a \”rush of bloodflow\” like what heat-nerves does to your skin.. it does pass in a few minutes… but if you know you will be sensiive then wait a while to drink the rest. other than that it is safe and just as a cuppa coffee does… energy booster and no crash! thanks for the subject. i love 5 hour!!
