Five Reasons for Why Breakfast is Important to Us

Is breakfast important to us?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But why is it so important?

It is a “fuel”

Energy will be supplied to us if we intake energy giving food, so students can do better in school and adults can do better in their job. Without breakfast, we may get tired easily, since the time between lunch and breakfast is too long. Skipping a breakfast can make a person drowsy and lethargic and have a slower reaction time.

To prevent eating too many snacks

Snacks cannot provide us with the right amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins and minerals we need, and they often have too much fat to be healthy. If you have your breakfast every morning, you can avoid eating snacks because of hungriness and you will become more healthy!

To prevent heart diseases and sudden death

Breakfast can help prevent strokes, heart attack and sudden death. Because the frequency of heart attack, sudden death, and stroke peaks between 6.00am and 12.00am, with the highest incidence being between 8.00am and 10.00am. Why? Because of platelet, a tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to death if we get a cut, they can clump together inside our arteries build up in the artery lining. In the morning platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots at the greatest frequency.

Weight Keeping

Don’t think that a breakfast will make you fatter. This is a wrong concept. If you want to keep your body weight, all the doctors must suggest you eating a healthy and light breakfast every day. But why? Breakfast starts the body’s metabolism, the process by which the body converts the fuel in food to energy. And when the metabolism gets moving, the body starts burning calories.

Super Brain Power

Breakfast foods that are rich in whole grains, fiber, and protein while low in added sugar may boost our attention span, concentration, and memory.

Be smart! Don’t skip your breakfast anymore!
