Food and Nutrition: Whole Foods & Processed Foods
What would you like to have? Healthy whole foods or tasty processed foods? The choice is yours.

Have you ever noticed when you read newspaper or watch television, you are inundated with the ads about foods! There are marketing campaigns always telling you what to eat. But most of the time they are telling you to eat the wrong foods only for their financial gain. You should know what you should eat and what you should not; as your body can get weakened and you can get ill if you continue to eat unhealthy foods.
There are two types of foods you can eat. You can eat whole foods and you can eat processed foods. Whole foods are natural and ‘real’ foods whereas processed foods are refined version of the whole foods.
Whole foods are unrefined, unprocessed or minimally proceed foods. On other words we can say whole food is a food that has nothing added to it or taken from it. Whole foods do not have additives, fat, sugar or any chemicals added. That’s why these foods are extremely good for health.
Processed foods are just the opposite. They are maximally processed; processed foods are transformed from clean and natural foods to attractive marketable foods. Processed foods contain so many compounds which may increase the taste but they are extremely bad for the health.
Whole foods are natural foods and come from plants and animals and in most cases you have to prepare it before you eat. Processed foods on the other hand are ready foods, come in packages and always ready to eat. But you know very well that these foods though taste great and save your time but always going to damage your health.
Processed foods contain a lot of artificial ingredients and chemicals which work as preservatives, that’s why processed foods remain edible for longer time, but actually extremely bad for health. These chemicals are responsible for many deadly diseases.
We should always remember processed foods are not real foods. They are ‘fake’ foods made in factories. Processing is altering the food from the form it is found in nature.
So when you’re shopping buy whole foods over processed foods. If you don’t do so then you cheat yourself of nutrients and increase your risk of various health problems.

Whole foods, grains etc. are always better for you, unfortunately because of todays struggles and rushing to get from one place to another, it is so easy to just pick up a processed burger. I am guilty of this, more so for the kids. I would rather not eat then to spend money on garbage foods.
I do try to remember to pack myself a goodie bad of nuts, raisin, cranberries etc. I hope that one day my children we see fit to eat this way.
Great article

WIth the overly scheduled, busy lifestyle most of us lead, it’s easy to fall into the trap of processed foods to save us time. I always look forward to summer when there are so many fresh fruits and vegetables available that I can grab and eat on the go. Good info here, Sourav.

Lovely read. I do buy un-prossed foods and that is easy for me because I am veggie but it is hard to stop the children, and get them eating fresh all the times, especially as adverts all around them telling them of these wonderful food (as you said) that are full of MSG, that is addictive.

No doubt about it–we need to eat food like God made it. Raw fruits and vegetables are fantastic for healing sicknesses. A vegan diet with 75% raw food can actually cure cancer. I know a lady who recovered completely from terminal cancer using just such a diet.
Thanks for your article.
