Health Benefits of Avocado

The avocado is a large fleshy pear-shaped berry. It has a single large seed surrounded by buttery pulp and a hard skin. An excellent source of monounsaturated fatty acids, potassium, vitamin E, B vitamins, and fiber- avocado is a great health food. Let’s see the health benefits of avocado.

Avocado also contains glutathione, an antioxidant- which is helpful in cell protection. Avocado is also a good source of antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin.  

Here are the health benefits of avocado:

  • Bright’s Disease: The avocado is especially useful as a staple food in cases of Bright’s disease because of its small protein content and with none of the poisonous extractives present in the flesh of this fruit.
  • Psoriasis: The oil of avocado is considered beneficial in treatment of psoriasis. It should be applied gently to the affected parts. It helps in taking the scales off.
  • Bad Breath:  The avocado is far superior to any mouth lotion or remedies for bad breath. It effectively removes intestinal putrefactions or decomposition which is the real cause of a coated tongue and bad breath.
  • Cancer Prevention: Research showed that avocado is good for preventing the oral cancer. Phytochemicals extracted from the avocado fruit fight cancer cells. Also, glutathione in avocado helps to clean free radicals.
  • Heart Health: Avocado is good for promote heart health. Oleic acid in avocado helps to lower the cholesterol levels. Because of avocado is a good source of potassium it helps to control blood pressure as well. 
  • Eye Health: A high amount of Lutein (a carotenoid) can be found in avocado. Lutein is very good for eye health as it protects against macular degeneration and cataracts.
  • Beauty Aid: The oil extracted from the avocado is employed is the preparation of cosmetics. A wide range of beauty aids with an avocado base are now available. Avocado is good for skin and hair. Avocado is rich in Vitamin E which is responsible for slowing down the ageing process. Avocado oil is good for reducing wrinkles and improving skin texture.
  • Digestive System Disorders:  Avocado is an excellent food remedy in acute digestive disorders. Its blandness is comforting to the hypersensitive surfaces of the stomach and duodenum and its abundant vitamins reanimate the inflamed and crippled cells.

The avocado possesses many health benefits. For purity, wholesomeness, ease of digestibility and adaption to human needs, it has few rivals.
