Mushroom contains selenium more than any other items and it also provides one-third of RDA for selenium in a single serving.

Selenium helps in combating cancer as it is studied to be reducing carcinogens in our body and even prostate cancer is the one that can be reduced with the intake of Selenium. Thus, mushrooms are very effective when it comes to a diet that can help combat cancer effects.

Mushrooms are also the source for minerals like potassium and helps in balancing the water content in the body.

Mushroom is also the source of Riboflavin and they are almost fat free thus making it a very effective item in our diet when we are trying to keep ourselves fit.
