A balanced diet comprised of healthy and diverse foods is key to promoting good health. Good nutrition requires a balance of food, minerals and vitamins and physical activity.

Diet means a person’s food what they eat.  Nutrition is the food of a people eats what nourishes their bodies. 

A balanced diet comprising of healthy and diverse foods is key to promoting good health. Good nutrition means that our body is getting all vitamins, minerals and nutrients it needs to work at its best level.

Good nutrition requires a balance of food, minerals and vitamins, (from eating healthy diet) and physical activity.  Overweight and obesity can result if things get out of balance – such as eating too much food, spicy or oily food, not doing any physical activity or having too much nutrients in the diet.

Here are a few healthy eating tips that are very easy to follow and will produce good results. Following the basics of good nutrition will give more energy, help keep weight under control, and keep feeling the best.

  1. Eat a variety of nutritious foods including vegetables, fruits and whole grains
  2. Cut back on fats, sugar and alcohol
  3. Keep portions in moderate size and excess food on plate is avoided
  4. Choose low GI foods over simple sugars and carbohydrates.

Nutrition is an input to the foundation of health and development.  Better nutrition means stronger immune systems, good health and less illness.  Healthy children learn quickly. Healthy people are more productive, stronger and able to create opportunities to gradually break the cycles of both hunger and poverty.  Good health enables students to learn quickly, workers to produce more, men, women can take constructive and active roles in their locality.

To maintain health is the hardest things for every day’s life.  Majority of people are not aware of the unknown chemicals and ingredients in every day products that take a toll in our body.

Embarking on the way of good nutrition, exercise and a healthy lifestyle for the long term is good to remember:

  • Everyone is different – what works for one person, it does not necessarily to work for other
  • There are many opinions regarding nutrition and how it relates to exercise.  For a personalized plan and more information it is necessary to seek an expert opinion from a Dietician or Nutritionist
  • The time of exercise and eating time have to be convenient and to fit in with one’s lifestyle and family.
  • The small slips ups or occasional glass of wine are not going to hurt one’s health goals.
  • Healthy lifestyle should be fun!  Just enjoy the energy and be proud of the good choices that are making.
