Negative Calorie Foods: Lose Weight and Satisfy Your Appetite
The following article details foods whose calorific value is less than the number required for your body to process them.
The fact that you can lose weight by eating more seems like a ridiculous idea, but it’s true, as long as you eat the right foods. Don’t expect to be able to sit around eating mars bars all day, just to watch the pounds fall away from you – it won’t happen.
This diet doesn’t mean that you don’t need to exercise either. Exercise is a vital part of any health program as it will make your heart and your mind healthier, more so than eating the right foods.
How it Works
Calories are units of energy and these vary widely between foods, even if the foods are the same there will be minor fluctuations in the calorific value. Stated calories for foods are the averages taken across a wide range of that same food.
As well as being measures of the energy in food, we also measure the energy our body uses in calories. Obviously we use calories for everything, from breathing to running a marathon – everything uses energy.
Negative calorie foods work by leaving your body in deficit once that particular food has been processed, i.e. your body will use more calories processing the food than the food is actually worth. Therefore eating these foods will encourage your body to use stored energy/fat whenever you need calories to burn off.
This way you will never have to starve in order to lose weight and you can feel better about yourself if you ever feel like you deserve a calorific treat!
Of course this doesn’t mean that you can take one of the below foods and deep fat fry it or cover it in sugar, they work best when eaten raw or at the very least, without any empty calorie foods (foods which comprise more calories than consumption burns).

In addition to those on the list, almost all citrus fruits have negative calorie status.
You don’t have to live on salads and soups for the rest of your life either. There are plenty of negative calorie food specific cook books available and recipes on the Internet which focus on this food group.
Whatever you do, I recommend that you combine these foods with other foods of a higher calorific value, otherwise you will end up feeling drained and have urges to binge on fatty/sugary foods. That being said, if you do find a diet plan specifically focused on these foods I am sure you will start shedding the pounds in no time.
