I love eating bananas. I can finish 2 or 3 after every meal. Sometimes, I take it as a snack. My family loves eating it too. We always see to it that we have enough supply in the house daily, most especially the big ones. My mom would always tell us to eat banana everyday as it is good for the heart. I have an aunt who has a heart problem and her doctor advised her to eat at least 7 bananas a day.
Bananas are everywhere in the Philippines. It is an abudant fruit of the country and you can buy it everywhere at a very low price. Not bad for a health fruit that gives us a lot of health benefits. So, what then are the health benefits of banana ? Why is it important in our daily meal ? What other benefits aside from being good for the heart can we gain from eating it ?
Bananas are rich in potassium. Potassium is essential for a regular heart beat and for a healthy nervous system. Potassium is depleted in our body by diarrhea, kidney problem, stress-related hormones, laxatives and diuretics and we need an intake of banana to counteract the release of potassium from our body. For diarrhea sufferers, they can eat a few bananas in order to regulate their bowel movement.
Banana contains an enzyme called tryptophan. It is a type of protein that the body converts to serotonin. Serotonin is a very essential hormone to the body since it is known to make an individual happy and changes one’s gloomy mood. Banana is also good for anemia as it is a good source of iron.
For hangovers, a banana milk shake with honey will help a lot. Banana, honey and milk helps together to calm your stomach, recharge your body of depleted blood sugar levels and to rehydrate your body. It is also believed that the skin of the banana is useful to help remove warts by covering it with the inner skin of the banana.
This essential fruit has high contents of Vitamin A, Potassium, Vitamin C, Phosporous, Iron and also contains Vitamin B, Calcium, Protein and Carbohydrates.
