Pineapple is not only very rich in taste but also highly nutritious. This juicy fruit has health-promoting compounds and one of the most favourite tropical fruits in the world. It’s fruit of the genus Ananas and belongs to the Bromeliaceae family. Pineapple is native to South America especially of Brazil and Paraguay. Today, it’s been cultivated throughout the world.

Pineapple is extremely high in manganese and Vitamin C. It is also good sources of Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), dietary fiber, copper and Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine).  In addition, pineapple also contains certain amount of iron, zinc, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. Pineapple pulp contains 85%of water and it has minimal fat and absolutely free of cholesterol.  Besides, raw pineapple contains an enzyme called Bromelain which aids in the digestion of protein rich foods.

Pineapple and Digestion:

Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme- that means it breaks down proteins into amino acids, can be found in the fruit core and stems of pineapple. It is very helpful with digestion in the intestinal tract. Bromelain is very good for the stomach and intestines. It reduces diarrhea and heart burn. Also, very useful for the people whose pancreas cannot able to produce the needed amounts enzymes. Research shows more intake of pineapple is good for the digestive tracts and it improves digestion significantly.

Bromelain in pineapple also make this fruit great for weight loss. Because bromelain can speed up protein digestion it helps in faster weight loss. Also, it’s a fruit combined of water and fiber, these two make you full for longer time and at the same time other nutrients in pineapple provide necessary natural supplements to the body. Pineapple is a low calorie and fat free fruit that make it a good food for weight loss as well.

It is that regular intake of pineapple or pineapple juice is very good for the metabolism and weight loss. In addition, pineapple is also good for overall health as it enhances the healing abilities of the body.
