Flax seed – Flax seeds are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which help in balancing hormones in the body. The dietary fibre present in flax called lignans contains anti-oxidant properties that help to detoxify your body and give you a glowing skin. It also protects from heart problem that cause premature death among women. It boosts fertility. It provides relief from pain associated with menstruation.

Citrus fruits – Fruits like orange and papaya are rich in vitamin C that delays the aging process. Oranges lower the risk of birth defects and memory loss. It also acts as a natural sun block as it contains beta carotene.  Have a glass of fresh lime juice daily with ½ teaspoon of honey to detoxify your body and reduce weight.

Broccoli – It is a great source of calcium and vitamin B, which helps to keep the bones strong and healthy. It contains sulphurophanes that helps to prevent cancer and clear excess estrogens. Fatty fish – Fish like tuna, mackerel and salmon are rich in omega 3 fatty acids. It helps to reduce the risk of blood clot formation that can occur due to prolonged use of contraceptive pills. It aids in fighting postpartum depression. Omega 3 fatty acid is good for pregnant and lactating women as it helps in brain and vision development of the baby.

Spinach – Spinach is rich in folate, which prevents birth defects, colon cancer, heart disease and dementia. Spinach contains an antioxidant called Lutein  that protect our skin from heat damage, delays wrinkles, roughness and dehydration of the skin.

Low fat yogurt – It is rich in probiotics, that help in the growth of healthy bacteria in the digestive tract, thereby boosting immunity. After the age of 45, women generally suffers from osteoporosis, since the rate of bone loss speeds up post menopause. Getting enough calcium for the body is essential in preventing osteoporosis and yogurt is the excellent source of calcium.

Wheat germ – Wheat kernel contains full of nutrition. A half cup of serving of toasted wheat germ supplies women with magnesium needs. Magnesium aids in the production, release and activity of insulin. It also helps in reducing stress, building bones and regulates thyroid function.
