Learn how to enjoy your food during and after the meal by having good digestion. Here are some tips on how to digest your food.
Easting healthy is just as important as digesting your food well for overall health, So even though you may be only concerned about getting that first bite in your mouth- here are some other things to think about so your body knows what to do with it when it gets inside:
- Eat in a relaxed and pleasant setting. Take your time. If you are in a hurry or in emotional stress choose simple foods that will be easy to digest-fruit, yogurt, protein bar, handful of sunflower seeds.
- Drink lots of water…not with meals, in between meals. Too much fluids eaten with meals dilutes digestive juices.
- Keep up your exercise program. Walking and yoga are excellent for digestion.
- Minimize intake of ice cold drinks. Instead choose warm drinks that are soothing-hot lemon water, herbal teas or drink water that is at room temperature.
- Chew thoroughly
- Get enough fiber in your diet from fresh vegetables and fresh fruits and whole grains
- Listen to your body and learn the remedies that work best for you. Things like peppermint or chamomile tea may help.
- Choose organic foods whenever possible to minimize toxins and irritants
- For chronic indigestion consider supplementing your diet with enzymes or probiotics
However, if you have chronic indigestion problems consult a health practitioner for problems like food allergies, low or high stomach acid.
