Vitamin B1 is a nutrient that doesnt spawn naturally in our body. It is important throughtout most of the body, being involved in most cellular processes. Without it Korsakoff’s syndrome, optic neuropathy, and a disease called beriberi can occur. It is easy to get thiamine but supplements may help.
Vitamin B1 is found in low doses in many foods including cereal grains, yeast, and pork, whom contain the highest amounts of thiamine. Other foods that contain a lot thiamine are oranges, potatoes, brown rice and liver. People want to get about 1.4mg of thiamine a day to stay healthy, however volunteers have claimed that taking 50mg of thiamine a day had an increase in mental acuity.
There is no study that has found what will happen if you take too much thiamine, and how much it would take for an overdose.
