A variety of things both physically or psychologically can make people unable to sleep or have time to sleep is not restful, one of them due to vitamin B12 deficiency.

National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, the U.S. reported that about 10 percent of Americans who have deficiencies (deficiency) of vitamin B12 are known to have chronic insomnia or trouble sleeping.

Although low levels of vitamin B12 does not trigger sleep problems directly, but this condition causes the other symptoms that can interfere with sleep such as fatigue, tingling in hands and feet, constipation and depression.

Depression is known to cause sleep problems, if symptoms are getting worse it will triggerthe occurrence of chronic insomnia. While the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency canmake the other person does not sleep soundly, as quoted from Livestrong, Friday(12/30/2011).

The body needs vitamin B12 to the formation of normal red blood cells, brain function optimally as well as the process of DNA synthesis. For adults are advised to consume as much as 2.4 mcg of vitamin B12 each day.

If insomnia is caused by vitamin B12 deficiency, then the easiest way to reduce symptomsis to eat food sources such as meat, fish, dairy products, eggs and cereal.

Vitamin B12 is most commonly found in animal foods, so people who eat strictly vegetarian or raw food at risk of deficiency of vitamin B12. Other risk factors are neverundergone gastrointestinal surgery or have pernicious anemia.

In addition to vitamin B12 deficiency, several things could also contribute to sleep disorders such as emotional stress, certain illnesses, eating too much before bedtime,injury or consuming alcohol and caffeine.
