Vitamin C: Beneficial or Unhealthy?
An article posing question of whether or not there are any negative side-effects of vitamin C intake.
Vitamin C has been proven to be beneficial in almost every way. It strengthens the immune system and prevents several diseases such as several common cancers and reduces the chance that you will get the common cold. Vitamin C affect almost every part within our body from our nervous system to our teeth. So how can Vitamin C possibly have any negative side effects?
Many people have said that Vitamin C comes without any side effects and is 100% beneficial, unfortunately this is not true. Like so many other things that we use in our every day lives, Vitamin C does in fact have some negative side effects that have been attributed to it. First of all it has been associated with the decrease of vitamin B12 within the body. This vitamin plays a key role in the normal functioning of the nervous system, brain and it has also been known to play a key factor in the formation of our blood. So as you can see with a decrease of this vitamin many of our bodily functions would also begin to decrease and wear out with more intake of Vitamin C. this vitamin has also been known to increase the possibility of a kidney stone at later ages. The kidney stone is formed because of the solid minerals that are formed by dissolves Vitamin C crystals after digestion.
As well as these more severe symptoms, Vitamin C is also attributed to diarrhea, cramps and nausea. These symptoms are in large part to the acidity of the actual Vitamin rather than its compound. Finally Vitamin C has also been known to lower the level of copper within the body and create an unbalanced or negative copper balance. This would create further complications with cardio-vascular problems as well as issues with your bones.
Overall, Vitamin C does indeed provide more benefits than it may take away thus it is probably better to take Vitamin C rather than dying from not taking it. But as with everything else, there is a limit to everything.
